Geneseo Air Show - U.S.A., July 12, 2008
The show had a few helicopeters including the Huey air evac, the Cobra gunship and the new Black Hawk helicopter. Besides an F16 fighter jet putting on a great show there was also a C130 US Air Force transport plane on hand far to the edge of the show. The plane was equiped with monster size skiis fitted to the wheels which the plane took off with. The plane wound up its jet turbine engines and started the props, rolled down the taxiway and took off. Several passes were made including one where the made a parachute drop of supplies.
A back view of a shiny aluminum passenger plane - with twin back tails. Canadian wing-walker Carol Pilon also performed at the airshow. The Quebec native starts with a stretch. Then she makes sure that the prop area is clear and signals for the engine start. Then with here goggles in place she makes her way to the top of the wings on the biplane - the plane takes off with her in place and then she puts on a great show.
The Geneseo Airshow is a great way to see historic second world war aircraft on the ground and in the air. The amount of aircraft was impressive with several types having multiple planes at the show (for example the many mustangs and P40 Flying Tigers). The short grass runway means that the fighter jets cannot land but the addition of the helicopters, the C130 transport plane and the F16 demonstration made for a well rounded airshow. I highly recommend this show! See the previous Geneseo Airshow page. See the original photoblog entry. |
