Train crossing
in Acton
Summer weather
has been a bit iffy lately, sometimes it is stinkin' hot and sometimes
it feels like a fall day. The clouds have been out in force and the sky
is usually full of puffy white clouds although we have had little rain.
The clouds at the crossing remind me of the old steam trains pumping out
the smoke as they chugged along the railroad tracks. Below is the sun setting
on Fairy Lake while the clouds still litter the sky.

Baker's half dozen
I was at a Limehouse "Country Garden Tea Party" and there were a couple
of Calendar girls in attendance to help raise awareness of Cancer Assistance
Services of Halton Hills (CAShh). One of the girls was Angela Baker (Knowles)
- Miss February. The Prince of Wales has said of the girls "I do just want
to stress how much I think we all owe to all the Calendar Girl ladies who've
done so much to help towards the process... of trying to find a cure for
Leukaemia." This story is told in the BBC
article and became the basis for the movie "Calendar
Girls." Their promotional picture (above) also provides a link for
Leukaemia Research at www.lrf.org.uk.
Angela is on the left in the following picture.
On the right is Pat Phillips - Mrs May in a Marham Unionvilla Nursing
Home calendar "Remember When" supporting Alzheimers research.

A bike in the
woods
At the end of
the track at the Acton High School is a path that leads off into the woods.
I believe this path is also used by the school for cross country running.
I remember taking the kids along this route when they were smaller and
how even a farmer provides a path for students through his corn field.
I take my mountain bike along the path and I am glad I can outrun some
of the skeeters.
One of the paths
wanders through an opening in the forest and some raspberries grow ripe
- ready for some bears to eat.
