Acton and Georgetown High School students got together for a fundraiser car wash and barbecue at Acton Sobeys. They are raising money for an ECO expedition to the Peruvian rainforest to undertake biodiversity monitoring and animal survey work. Half the field of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) racecars are lined up after the autograph session before the race starts at the Cayuga, Ontario racetrack. I was on hand in the pits assisting a race photographer shooting for Inside Track Motorsports News magazine.

Andrew Ranger stands behind his 27 car in the pits getting ready for the practice run. Andrew came from the now defunct CHAMP car league and has done well in the Canadian Tire Series.

The lights go out in the race park as the generator has problems (three times) and the race gets put on hold. We try out photographer Pierre's fish eye lens (that's me above) during the down time as we wait at the far end of the pits while the sun goes down on the race. I try to get out at least once a season to attend an exciting race and I recommend that you try the same - it is a great day of entertainment for a very reasonable cost (and for only a little more cash you can usually get into the pits).

Ann and I had some time on the holiday Monday and like many others went out in nature as we enjoyed the long weekend superb weather. Hilton Falls is close to Milton and this Conservation Area was packed. You can also see my webpage with my previous visit to the falls here.

The Park has many great trails and is well used in the winter time by cross country skiers and people exploring the area - there is a fire kept burning just beside the waterfall. The forest is waiting to start changing colour but for now remains vibrantly green.
