The picture above
was taken in 2004 at the Sky Dome for a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game.
We were high in the nosebleeds then (I think that's why Kevin looks :(
sad) and tomorrow we return to the 500 level of the Rogers Centre for another
game. While we have gone to many games since then I don't think we have
been up so high since that time. The tickets are free, received as thanks
for being a subscriber to the Inside
Pitch (newsletters and alerts) on BlueJays.com. Okay, Blue Jays, let's
play ball!

Rays vs Jays
Well we made it
to the Rogers Centre a little
late - Erin had a soccer tournament that she had to play in the rain and
the traffic was bad coming into Toronto. We parked close to the ballpark
since we were late and paid the price in parking (it was the most I have
spent for a few hours parking in my life) and we grabbed a hot dog before
we went into the Centre. Click
here to see a larger blowup of the autostitch panorama of the stadium.
The Devil Rays gather at the pitcher's mound to discuss their progress
against the Jays - it wasn't looking good!
There were 39,800
fans in the place and we missed out on the Joe Carter bobble head figurines
(for the first 10,000) so we climbed high (it would be hard to get much
higher) to find our seats which provided a surprisingly good view. The
Blue Jays
continued their winning streak, now at 8 games, as they beat the Tampa
Bay Devil Rays one to nothing. After the game ends we wait for the
crowds to filter out before we strike out ourselves. Thanks BlueJays.com.

Jim Harris &
the Green Party
After the baseball
game we met with Brian and Shawnessy and had a great dinner with Jim Harris
who on this day confirmed to us that Canada is now in a Federal Election.
This is important as Jim is the Green
Party Campaign Manager and former leader of the party.
The Canadian Parliament
was dissolved today by the Governor General at the request of Prime Minister
Stephen Harper thus taking his minority government into an election one
year ahead of the four year term law he instituted. Get ready to vote Canada
- October 14, 2008.
It was great talking
to Jim as he discussed what originally led him into politics - his desire
to help the environment and all the species that were being driven into
extinction at an alarming rate. He also noted that the Green Party is fiscally
responsible so keep them in mind during the election. You can view his
thoughts during the campaign by checking out his blog at www.greenparty.ca/blogs/358.

Fall Fair is approaching
It looks like
we are at the starting gate of a major horse race but it is only the carousel
horses arranged and stored for transportation. The big rigs and carny trailers
have started to show up at Prospect Park as they get ready to start the
hard work of setting up the midway for the upcoming Acton Fall Fair. The
Fair starts this Friday and hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Meanwhile Falll
continues it's steady progression as isolated groups of leaves, branches
and whole trees are now changing from green into their vibrant colour schemes.

Act and Fashion
Cares 2008
I was excited
to be included in the ACT media launch of the Fashion Cares presents Fashion
sCares held at Brant House in the Fashion District of Toronto. Chosen because
of my blogs I joined many members of the mainstream press at the event.
And wow those models and their outfits were gorgeous (I am the short guy
in the middle).
The Fashion sCares
event will be held November 1, 2008 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre
and will have celebrity hosts including David Furnish, musical guests Katy
Perry and Kreesha Turner. The Chair is Michael King and the genius Phillip
Ing returns as Creative Director. Visit www.FashionCares
for more information on this great event - see and be seen.
Here is a Youtube
video I made of the media launch evening.
