Frog pond in early fall

Frog pond in early fall, Acton

While even I admit that fall is an extremely beautiful time of year - so fresh and colourful, I am always reminded that soon the leaves will all be on the ground and then covered over in snow. Winter is coming - run!

I plan on going to the all night Saturday October 4, 2008 Toronto art thing that is Scotiabank's Nuit Blanche (all nighter in french) - one night, all night. Hopefully I will have some great photos of some of the events. Then on Sunday the Hamilton family (sans Kevin) will go to the Toronto Zoo for a day of animals.

Pumpkin field

Allison's Farm Market - field of pumpkins and barn, Georgetown, Ontario

The pumpkins wait in the field, ready for people to take home for Halloween. They will become decorations, faces and pumpkin pie. I bought a few during the visit to Allison's Farm Market in Georgetown.

Scotiabank nuit blanche

2008 Scotiabank nuit blanche, Toronto - Without Persons @ Maple Leaf Gardens

Toronto's annual all night contemporary art event called nuit blanche (or all nighter in french) ran on Saturday night so I spent several hours walking around the downtown core and distillery district looking at exhibitions and independent projects. They expected 1 million people to come out to the event and the streets were definitely full.

The picture above is inside Maple Leaf Gardens where "Without Persons, 2008" was staged. It was pretty cool being in the old Gardens again - it doesn't look like much has changed since it was home to the Maple Leafs hockey team and the occasional concert. The exhibition featured two screens with computer voices having a dialogue with screen projecting vibrations coming from the voices. The screen shown was the female while across the rink to the right was the male screen.

Below is the "Stereoscope, 2008" interactive multimedia installation at Toronto's City Hall. The window had screens which became a display screen for animations, including a pong game.

Toronto Zoo

Toronto Zoo - lions

After a few hours sleep Ann, Erin and I drive to the Toronto Zoo to see some animals and enjoy the nice fall day. It was bath time for the lion and he made a funny face so I asked him to hold it while I took some pictures. To see more photos of the animals at the zoo click on my webpage here.

Fall tree and farm field

fall tree in front of farm field

I continue to enjoy the fall colours - some of the trees are so vibrant they look like they are lit up from the inside.

Fall tour

blow up cowboy in front lawn in Erin, Ontario

Howdy partner! We had a fantastic holiday weekend, filled with family and turkey. The weather was perfect - I was wearing shorts in mid October. Just Ann and myself headed out to check out the fall colours in the Orangeville area. Most of the trees have turned colour and are starting to drop their leaves and tourists like us were out by the thousands.

I wanted to check out the Cheltenham Badlands again but it was to busy and I had to turn around and head home. We passed through the Town of Erin, which was also full of people finishing up the Erin Fall Fair. We saw a house with a large blow up cowboy in the front yard. I don't know why he was there but it made a nice picture.

Here is a separate link for more of my fall pictures.
