The 2006/7 Acton
High School Concert and Jazz band director Peter Wilcox received a lovely
sash and a new baton and hat from his grateful students during the year's
last school performance.
Kevin is currently
in grade nine and plays trumpet in the concert band. On Saturday May 5
the band will begin their exciting journey to Chicago for a five day stay
in the United States.

Visit to Scarboro
Bluffs
My brother Joe
and I head out on a nice Saturday to explore Scarboro Bluffs in the southeast
section of Toronto. We gain access to the constantly changing cliffs from
Bluffers
Park on Brimley Road. You can see some people at the top of the bluffs
- risking life and limb for a view.
They were shooting
another movie on the beach by the cliffs - something with a mountie, a
horse and some gunfire. We stayed for a few hours watching the various
takes being acted out then we also went to the top of the cliffs.
We walked down to Prospect Park as the temperatures hit the high 20's
and much to our surprise some of the baby geese have arrived. The bouncing
bundles of fuzzy yellow goslings were eager for food and got quite close
to us.
While it started
out cloudy and cool the day ended up being just perfect in Toronto, Ontario.
I parked down at the lake and biked around Cherry
Beach, Tommy
Thompson Park (Leslie Spit), the
Distillery District, City Hall and Queen Street. Even the police were
out on bikes, above, at the Young Dundas Park across from the Eaton Centre.
The Distillery
District had the 2007 Fashion
Cares event which is held to raise money to fight HIV/AIDS. The district
was open to the public until about 5 PM then the festivities began. I noticed
George Stroumboulopoulos host of CBC's
The Hour out in the crowd meeting with his fans before helping to host
the event and he graciously stood still for a picture (PS we all love his
show).
